This is a very attractive example of the sort of lyrical abstract form that was prevalent in non-figurative sculpture of the late 1960s and early 1970s. It was made by an important sculptor who has also had an influential career as a teacher. It would team very effectively with the colour-field abstract paintings of the same period.
