Art Gallery of Ballarat Foundation

Gallery Foundation

The Art Gallery of Ballarat Foundation was established as a Charitable Fund in 1998 for the future benefit of the Art Gallery of Ballarat.

The main aim of the Foundation is to establish a substantial capital endowment to earn sufficient income to assist the Gallery with specific projects or acquisitions.

In July 2000, the Foundation undertook a successful $2 million fundraising campaign to assist with the funding of the Gallery's extension and redevelopment and continues to support Gallery projects and activities.

Income from the Foundation is applied to acquisitions and conservation of major works of art, major exhibitions and educational programs, publications and research projects, scholarships and traineeships, buildings and equipment.

The Foundation also accepts gifts where the capital is to be applied to these purposes.

All donations and gifts are tax deductible.

In March 2009, the Foundation launched Adopt an Artwork, a donation program which raises funds for much-needed conservation work. This ongoing project has seen many significant works in the Collection conserved and will ensure that the Collection is maintained in an optimal condition into the future.
